Doctor Lana Van Der Merwe obtained her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Pretoria in 2007. She is an orthopaedic surgeon.
Her internship at Tembisa hospital afforded her the opportunity to get quality orthopaedic exposure and she completed her community service year in their Orthopaedic department as medical officer.
She was fortunate enough to get an orthopaedic registrar post immediately after her community service and started her training at Kalafong Hospital. After completing her in service training she joined the Walk-a-Mile team at Unitas and Midstream with the aim of further developing her love for paediatric orthopaedics and broadening the scope of the practice
